Dr. Nikolopoulou is Associate Professor of English at the University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus. She studied at the University of California at Santa Barbara (BA in Dramatic Literature and Criticism, 1984) and Cornell University (M.A., 1987 and Ph.D. in History and Theory of British and European Theatre and Literary Theory, 1990).
She has taught at the College of Wooster, Ohio (Assistant Professor, 1990-1994) and at the National Central University in Taiwan (Associate Professor 1994-1997). Her research interests include 18th and 19th century Literature and Popular Culture, Melodrama, Philosophical Hermeneutics. Her published works include Melodrama: The Cultural Emergence of a Genre, St. Martin’s Press, 1999.
